22 January 2016 UK's Migration Advisory Committee publishes comprehensive review of skilled visa category The Migration Advisory Committee ("MAC"), an independent non-departmental public body has published recommendations on how the Government should alter the skilled worker visa scheme to achieve its goal of lowering net migration. The headline proposal is the introduction of a significant additional fee for each non EEA national applying for permission to work in the UK. Other proposals affecting employers include requiring Intra Company Transfer applicants to have worked for more than two years with the company (up from one year at present) and a suggestion that certain tax reliefs available to employees seconded to work in the UK should be reviewed by the tax authorities. A Tax Alert prepared by Ernst & Young's Human Capital Group, and attached below, provides additional details. Document ID: 2016-0162 |
