29 January 2016 Long term assignees can now remain in Austrian state pension scheme on voluntary basis A new federal law was issued in Austria on December 28, 2015, introducing changes to the concept of voluntary state pension contributions for mobile employees from January 1, 2016. Under certain conditions, it will now be possible to remain insured within the Austrian pension scheme on the basis of voluntary contributions in cases where individuals are subject to the statutory social security legislation of another EU member state or locations with which Austria has a totalization agreement in force. In relation to assignments to non-agreement countries, there are existing rules allowing continued payments into the Austrian pension scheme on a voluntary basis. A Tax Alert prepared by Ernst & Young's Human Capital Group, and attached below, provides additional details. Document ID: 2016-0206 |
