Argentina eliminates export duties on several mining industry products

Companies that export mining industry products will benefit from the eliminated export duties.

Argentina has eliminated (Decree No. 349/2016) export duties on certain mining industry products. The Decree was published in the Official Gazette on February 15, 2016, and is effective as of its date of publication.

The Decree establishes a 0% export duty for the goods listed under several codes of the Mercosur's common nomenclature (NCM) regarding certain mining industry products as follows: Chapter 25 (Salt, sulfur, earths and stone, plastering materials, lime and cement), Chapter 26 (Ores, slag and ash), and certain products under Chapter 27 (coal, not agglomerated; peat; bitumen and asphalts, natural; asphaltites and asphaltic rocks).

In relation to this modification, Decree No. 160/2015 had already eliminated export duties applicable to most industrial exports, including the following items of the mining and steel industries:

— Raw and semi-finished gold (including platinum gold), and gold dust

— Raw and semi-finished silver (including platinum and golden silver), and silver dust

Decree No. 160/2015 was published in the Official Gazette on December 21, 2015 and was effective January 7, 2016.
