Australian Taxation Office launches mandatory public reporting of large Australian-owned private companies' tax data

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) on March 22, published reporting of tax data for 321 Australian majority owned private companies with a total income of more than AU$200 million, based on their 2013-14 income tax return (the private companies). This report follows the release of similar data on December 17, 2015 relating to large public and foreign private corporate taxpayers with a total income of AU$100 million or more. The private companies should prepare for scrutiny by the media, advocacy groups and investors.

A Tax Alert prepared by EY's Global Tax Desk Network, and attached below, provides additional details.
