New Brunswick to raise HST by 2%

In his fiscal 2016-17 provincial budget released on February 2, New Brunswick Finance Minister Roger Melanson announced a 2% increase in the provincial component of the harmonized sales tax (HST) from 8% to 10%, effective July 1. The new combined HST in the province will be 15%. On March 30, the province released a notice, "Transitional rules for the New Brunswick HST rate increase," outlining transitional rules in respect of the rate change.
