UAE imposing penalties for overstaying 30 day visa on arrival

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government is introducing an AED100 per day penalty for overstaying a 30 day on arrival visa (about US$27). Until now, holders of this visa were able to remain in the UAE for 40 calendar days prior to incurring financial penalties for overstaying. This 10 day grace period has now been withdrawn and daily penalties will start from the first day of any overstay.
