Tax administration is going digital: Understanding the challenges and opportunities

The digital age is rapidly transforming the relationship between tax authorities and taxpayers. Driven by a desire for morerevenue, greater efficiency and improved compliance in an atmosphere of shrinking resources, tax authorities are increasingly relying on digital tax data gathering and analysis — using digital platforms to facilitate real-time or near real-time collection and assessment of taxpayer data.

This EY publication, attached below, explores the different aspects and levels of tax administration digitization and what companies may encounter at each level. It also provides a snapshot of digitization across the Americas, looking at how some countries are addressing digitization of their corporate income tax, automated information exchange, e-invoicing and the use of data analytics and risk engines.
