Prince Edward Island to raise HST by 1%: Transitional rules

In his fiscal 2016-17 provincial budget, released on April 19, Prince Edward Island Finance Minister Allen Roach announced a 1% increase in the provincial component of the harmonized sales tax (HST) from 9% to 10%, effective October 1. The new combined HST in the province will be 15%. The province recently released a new notice, "Transitional Rules for the Prince Edward Island HST Rate Increase," outlining transitional rules in respect of the rate change.
