Cross border workers from France to Switzerland will have one year to choose their country of health insurance coverage

From October 1, cross border workers from France to Switzerland who have never formally opted into either the French or Swiss health schemes will have one year to make this choice. This opportunity seeks to rectify issues that arose from a law change in 2014 designed to direct those affiliated with France into the public French scheme rather than the private scheme. This led to some individuals being affiliated to both schemes. Failure to act by those affected could lead to individuals being mandatorily affiliated with the Swiss scheme.
