South Africa proposes amendments to tax treatment of government grants and extension to prescription rules for research and development incentives

South Africa's National Treasury published for public comment the 2016 Draft Taxation Laws Amendment Bill (DTLAB) on July 8. Comments are required to be submitted by August 8. The DTLAB includes inter alia proposed amendments to: (i) the tax treatment of government grants; and (ii) the prescription rules for research & development (R&D) incentives.
