Update on recent EU tax developments provided

The Economic and Financial Affairs Council of the European Union (ECOFIN), which is made up of the Finance Ministers of all European Union (EU) Member States, formally adopted the Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive (ATAD) on July 12. Unanimous political agreement on the ATAD was reached on June 21 following several discussions and compromises. Further, at its July 12 meeting, the ECOFIN also discussed possible additional measures to enhance tax transparency and prevent tax abuse, based on the European Commission Communication on further measures to enhance transparency against tax evasion and avoidance from July 5.

A Tax Alert prepared by EY's EU Tax Services group, and attached below, provides additional details.
