Nevada 2017 SUI taxable wage base to increase

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, Employment Security Division announced that the state unemployment insurance (SUI) taxable wage base for calendar year 2017 will increase to $29,500, up from $28,200 for 2016.

The taxable wage base is calculated each year at 66 2/3% of the average annual wage paid to Nevada workers.

Mailing of 2017 rate notices

SUI tax rate notices are issued in December each year for the following calendar year. Employers also pay a quarterly bond assessment to cover the principal, interest, and administrative payments on bonds issued in 2013 to repay the state's federal UI loan. The bond assessment rates are typically announced in January each year.

See the Department's website for further information on the 2016 SUI and bond assessment rates. See also Tax Alert 2016-184.
