Australia's next installments of reform for temporary work activity and working holiday programs discussed

A new temporary activity visa framework proposed by the Australian Government will simplify the application process for temporary activity visa applicants for temporary work or a specified activity. The reforms will: (i) repeal and consolidate a number of visa subclasses; (ii) establish a single Temporary Activities Sponsorship; (iii) remove some sponsorship and nomination requirements; and (iv) streamline the processing of applications by moving to an online lodgement facility. The changes will be effective November 19, with transitional arrangements in place until May 18, 2017. The subclass 457 visa program will not be affected.
