Uruguay's exchange of information agreement with the United Kingdom enters into force

On October 20, 2016, the Exchange of Information Agreement in Tax Matters between Uruguay and the United Kingdom entered into force. Uruguay's Parliament approved the agreement (through Law No. 19,429, which was published on September 15, 2016) on August 29, 2016.

The agreement will apply to tax periods beginning from the entry into force date.

Uruguay and the United Kingdom also entered into a Treaty to Avoid Double Taxation. For more information on the Treaty, see Tax Alert 2016-1923.
