Canada's Global Skills Strategy to introduce faster work permit processing and a new work permit exemption for some workers

The Canadian government unveiled its Global Skills Strategy as part of the 2016 Fall Economic Statement on November 1. The Global Skills Strategy recognizes the need of Canadian businesses to leverage global talent in a timely manner. To achieve this objective, the Global Skills Strategy will enable faster processing for certain types of skilled temporary foreign workers and introduce a new class of business visitor who will not require a work permit where the work project in Canada will be for a short period.
