Canada to drop visa requirement for Mexican citizens on December 1

Effective December 1, Mexican citizens will no longer be required to apply for and obtain a visa from the Canadian consulate prior to traveling to Canada as a visitor. Instead, they must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) prior to travel if entering by air. Beginning May 1, 2017, individuals from Brazil, Bulgaria and Romania who have held a Canadian visa in the past 10 years or currently hold a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa can also register for the eTA instead of applying for a visa through a consular office prior to seeking entry to Canada.
