17 January 2017 Oregon 2017 withholding and 2016 Form W-2/1099 reminders The Oregon Department of Revenue has issued reminders regarding 2017 income tax withholding and calendar year 2016 Forms W-2/1099 filing due dates. (Payroll tax news, Oregon Department of Revenue, January 2017.) As we've reported previously, calendar year 2016 Forms W-2 are due to the Department by January 31, 2017. The Department is also adopting the new federal requirement that Forms 1099 where miscellaneous income is reported in reported in box 7 is due January 31, 2017. Forms W-2 and 1099 must be submitted electronically through the state's iWire system. The iWire system is now part of the Department's Revenue Online system. Taxpayers may submit information returns with or without a Revenue Online account. See the Department's website for more information on new iWire features. The 2017 withholding tax formulas, tables and employer business guide can now be found on the Department's website. The Department has added an "OR" prefix to the names of many of their forms. This means the 2017 WR, WA, and OTC will now be the OR-WR, OR-WA, and OR-OTC. Returns required to be filed by the Oregon Employment Department (Forms OQ, 132, and Schedule B) will not at this time have the OR prefix. As of November 2016, withholding and payroll tax accounts are available in Revenue Online. As part of this, OR-OTC payments can be made electronically through Revenue Online. You can also use Revenue Online to electronically file the OR-WR and OR-WA. Electronic filing of Forms OQ, 132, and Schedule B must still be made through the Employment Department's OTTER or SETRON systems. As we reported in EY Payroll NewsFlash Vol. 17, #240 (12-29-2016), the new TriMet Transit District payroll tax rate is 0.007437 and the Lane Transit District payroll tax rate is 0.0072.
