Uruguay issues list of low or no taxation jurisdictions

In accordance with the provisions of Law No. 19,484 and Decree No. 40/017 (please see Tax Alert 2017-0330), Uruguayan tax authorities issued Resolution No. 1,315/2017, listing the countries or jurisdictions that qualify as low or no taxation.

The list includes the following countries and jurisdictions:

Christmas Island

Cocos Island (Keeling Islands)

The Resolution provides that countries or jurisdictions on the list may be removed, provided certain conditions are met:

— The exchange of information on request is fully applicable.

— The automatic exchange of information on financial accounts for tax purposes is activated bilaterally by Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance.
