Senate Finance Committee schedules business tax reform hearing

The Senate Finance Committee has scheduled a hearing on Tuesday, September 19(at 10 a.m.)to "examine ways to improve the U.S. tax code's business provisions and create a healthier economic environment that will encourage job creators to invest in the United States and increase their competitiveness in the global market."

Witnesses for the hearing, titled "Business Tax Reform," are:

— Scott A. Hodge, President, Tax Foundation, Washington, DC

— Donald B. Marron, Institute Fellow, Urban Institute & Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, Washington, DC

— Troy K. Lewis, CPA, CGMA, Tax Executive Committee Immediate Past Chair, American Institute of CPAs, Provo, UT

— Jeffrey D. DeBoer, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Real Estate Roundtable, Washington, DC

"There are a variety of changes in the tax code that can be made to help shift the economic landscape and create fertile ground for businesses to invest and hire new workers here at home," Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT) said. "Next week, we will hear from experts about policy options that have the potential to boost economic growth and give American businesses the tools they need to create and retain higher-paying American jobs and stay competitive in today's global economy."
