Arizona tax department confirms 2017 annual withholding reconciliation and Forms W-2 deadline is January 31, 2018

The Arizona Department of Revenue confirmed that beginning with the calendar year 2017, the new due date for filing Arizona Form A1-R, Arizona Withholding Reconciliation Tax Return or Form A1-APR, Arizona Annual Payment Withholding Tax Return and the corresponding Forms W-2 will be January 31, 2018. (Withholding tax update (delivered electronically), Arizona Department of Revenue.)

As we reported previously, SB 1290 accelerates the deadline for filing Forms W-2 with the Department from February 28 to January 31, matching the federal deadline. (SB 1290, signed by the governor on March 2, 2017.)

The legislation also changes the deadline for providing Forms W-2 to employees from thirty days following the end of the year to 31 days following the end of the year (January 31), making a technical change to match the Department's policy to require Forms W-2 to be provided by January 31 each year.
