22 December 2017

UK's monthly limit on Tier 2 visas exceeded for first time since October 2015, resulting in rejected applications

The monthly limit on Restricted Certificates of Sponsorship (RCoS) available to sponsors of non EU nationals coming to work in the UK was exceeded at the December 2017 monthly panel meeting, leading to a significant number of requests being refused. The exact points' threshold below which RCoSs are being rejected has not yet been confirmed, but as of publication, requests for non-PhD, non-shortage occupation list jobs with salaries of less than £55,000 per annum, have been rejected.

A Tax Alert prepared by EY's People Advisory Services group, and attached below, provides additional details.
