10 January 2018 Buchanan to chair Ways & Means Tax Subcommittee Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) will become Chairman of the Tax Policy Subcommittee of the House Ways and Means Committee under a reshuffling of subcommittee chairmen and assignments for Republican Members of the Committee for the remainder of the 115th Congress that was announced on January 10, 2018. The changes stem from Committee member Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-OH) leaving Congress this month. Rep. Tiberi was Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, which will now be chaired by Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL), the previous Chairman of the Tax Policy Subcommittee. Rep. Buchanan was previously chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee, which will now be chaired by Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS). "Throughout the past year, our subcommittee chairmen and members have worked on the American people's top priorities — including delivering a new tax reform law that will create more jobs and increase paychecks nationwide. In the year ahead, our members will build on this historic success and pass more consequential legislation that will directly improve the lives of people across our country," Chairman Brady said. "Our new subcommittee chairs are experienced leaders who will help ensure that our Committee continues to deliver real results in 2018."
