Barbados signs Multilateral Convention to Implement Tax Treaty Related Measures to Prevent BEPS

Barbados and five other jurisdictions signed the Multilateral Convention to Implement Tax Treaty Related Measures to Prevent BEPS (the MLI) during a second signing ceremony on January 24, which took place at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Headquarters, at the time of the fourth plenary meeting of Inclusive Framework on BEPS. At the time of signature, Barbados submitted a list of 33 tax treaties entered into by Barbados and other jurisdictions that Barbados would like to designate as Covered Tax Agreements (CTAs), i.e., tax treaties to be amended through the MLI. Together with the list of CTAs, Barbados also submitted a provisional list of reservations and notifications (MLI positions) regarding the various provisions of the MLI. The definitive MLI positions will be provided upon the deposit of its instrument of ratification, acceptance or approval of the MLI.
