Puerto Rico's Treasury Department extends tax return and tax payment due date to April 20

As a result of technical difficulties with the Puerto Rico Treasury Department's (PRTD) electronic filing system, the PRTD has extended (Information Bulletin 18-10) the tax return due date from April 17, 2018 to April 20, 2018. IB 18-10 further states that the extension applies to any form or declaration due April 17, 2018. The extended due date also applies to any tax payments that must be paid with the return, or any other payment required to be made by April 17, 2018.

The PRTD notes that the extension does not exempt taxpayers from the electronic filing requirement. Therefore, any taxpayers that must file a return or extension request electronically must use the PRTD's electronic filing system.
