New Malaysian Government proposes abolition of GST and reintroduction of a sales tax

The new Prime Minister of Malaysia has reaffirmed the intention of the country's new Government to abolish the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and to replace it with a version of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) that was in effect prior to the introduction of GST. GST came into effect on April 1, 2015.
