Puerto Rico's Municipal Revenue Collections Center clarifies the due date for taxpayers who filed automatic extension requests for filing 2017 personal property tax returns

Puerto Rico's Municipal Revenue Collections Center (CRIM by its Spanish acronym) has clarified (Administrative Order 2018-07) the due date for taxpayers who filed automatic extension requests for filing 2017 personal property tax returns.

Taxpayers who submitted an automatic extension request on or before May 23, 2018, will have until August 23, 2018, to file their 2017 personal property tax return.

Implications

The extended due date only relates to the filing of the 2017 personal property tax return. Taxpayers who are required to make estimated personal property tax payments will have to submit the first 2018 estimated personal property tax payment on or before August 15. Second, third and fourth installments are due on November 15, February 15 and May 15, respectively.
