Quebec budget 2019-20 discussed

Quebec Finance Minister Éric Girard tabled the province’s fiscal 2019-20 budget on March 21. The budget revolves around six major measures: (i) put money back in the pockets of Quebecers; (ii) improve education and health services; (iii) create wealth and increase the potential of the economy; (iv) act for the environment; (v) support communities; and (vi) start work on projects that Quebecers have been waiting to see. The minister provides for the maintenance of a balanced budget for the next five years without using the stabilization reserve. In addition, the government confirms that the objective to reduce the gross debt to 45% of GDP by 2025-26 will be achieved five years earlier than expected.
