States taking action to curb rising drug prices

While federal policymakers and regulators have struggled to address rising spending on prescription drugs, the states have been more successful. In 2018, 28 states passed nearly 45 bills to curb rising prescription drug prices, with more than 170 pieces of legislation being introduced nationally. In the first week of the 2019 legislative session, nearly 30 bills were introduced in 11 states.
