Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health advances surprise billing and health extenders legislation to full committee

On July 11, the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced ten bipartisan health care bills to the full committee, including the "No Surprises Act" (H.R 3630) to end surprise medical billing, the "Fair Drug Pricing Act" (H.R. 2296) to increase drug pricing transparency, and various Medicare and public health program reauthorizations, including four-year extensions for Community Health Centers, the National Health Services Corps, the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program, and the Special Diabetes Program, among others. Each bill passed by voice vote, however several Congressmen raised concerns with the surprise billing legislation's setting of a federal benchmark to settle payment disputes between insurers and providers.
