US Virgin Islands extends deadline for companies to file Franchise Tax and Annual Report

The US Virgin Islands (USVI) Lieutenant Governor has announced an extension in the deadline to file the Franchise Tax and Annual Report using the new online platform for businesses (Catalyst) from June 30 to July 31, 2019.

All corporations conducting business in the USVI must use the recently-launched Catalyst system to register and submit their corporate annual reports and franchise tax annual reports beginning with the 2018 tax year. These reports are due annually and must be filed on or before June 30 (absent the extension). For more information, see Tax Alert 2019-0876.

The current extension will give companies an extra month to file until July 31, 2019. Penalties and interest will be assessed on late filing of the Franchise Tax and Annual Report on August 1, 2019.
