House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee holds hearing on legislation to address substance use disorders

On March 3, the Subcommittee on Health of the Committee on Energy and Commerce held a hearing entitled, “Combatting an Epidemic: Legislation to Help Patients With Substance Use Disorders.” The hearing included discussion of fourteen pieces of legislation aimed at helping patients with substance use disorders, updates from officials across the Department of Health and Humans Services on implementation of the “Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities Act” (SUPPORT Act), and discussion with stakeholder groups representing providers, academia, patients and others.
