Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance issues resolution allowing imports and exports of certain products tax-free

Certain humanitarian aid products may be imported and exported tax free.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance published a resolution, establishing that certain products previously considered essential by the Ministry of Public Health can be imported into, or exported from, Uruguay (through a simplified customs procedure) permanently or temporarily without the imposition of taxes.

The products that may be imported or exported tax-free include: gel alcohol, cleaning products (bar, liquid or cream soaps), swabs for clinical exudate (i.e., swabs used to test cells and fluid that have seeped out of blood vessels or an organ) and cotton swabs, and other clinical products.
