Nevada increases minimum wage effective July 1, 2020

Nevada legislation under AB456, and effective July 1, 2020, increases the state's minimum wage to $9 if the employer does not offer health benefits to the employee and to $8 if the employer offers health benefits to the employee.

The law also provides that the minimum wage must be increased by $.75 on July 1 of each year until 2024 when the minimum wage reaches $12 if the employer does not offer health benefits to the employee and to $11 if the employer offers health benefits to the employee.

The specifics for meeting the health benefits requirement are contained in NAC 608.102 and NAC 608.104.

Under current law, the minimum wage for employees who are offered qualified health benefits from their employers is $7.25 per hour and the minimum wage for employees who are not offered qualified health benefits is $8.25 per hour. (Nevada Department of Business & Industry press release.)
