Louisiana electronic withholding tax filing deadline extended due to electronic system issues

The Louisiana Department of Revenue (DOR) announced that due to network connectivity issues, the July 15, 2020 electronic filing deadline for all tax returns and payments, including Form L-1 for employers paying on a semi-weekly basis, are extended to July 17, 2020. (Revenue Information Bulletin No. 20-014, July 15, 2020.)

This extension is automatic and taxpayers are not required to file an extension request. Additionally, no penalties or interest will be assessed provided that returns and payments are submitted to the DOR by the extension date.

Taxpayers that need additional time past July 17, 2020 may submit an extension request on the applicable extension form based on the tax type.

For more information on Louisiana withholding taxes, see the Department's website.
