Taxpayers affected by Hurricane Sally now have until January 15, 2021 to file returns and remit tax, IRS announces

The IRS has announced (IR-2020-222) filing and payment extensions for taxpayers who were affected by Hurricane Sally and had tax returns due on or after September 14, 2020. These taxpayers will now have until January 15, 2021 to file their individual and business tax returns and to pay any tax due. The relief is available to taxpayers in any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as qualifying for individual assistance (currently, Baldwin, Escambia and Mobile counties in Alabama). A current list of eligible localities is also available on the IRS's disaster relief page.
