BREAKING TAX NEWS | Income tax return filing deadline extended to July 15

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin tweeted on March 20, 2020, that the income tax return filing deadline is extended from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020. President Trump reiterated the filing extension in a press briefing the same day. Previously, the IRS extended the due date for making certain income tax payments without interest or penalties to July 15, 2020. (See Tax Alert 2020-0609).
