Puerto Rico Treasury Department postpones deadline for filing December 2020 SUT return until January 25

The Puerto Rico Treasury Department (PRTD) has postponed (BI RI 21-01) the deadline for filing the December 2020 sales and use tax (SUT) monthly return and making the corresponding payment.

The PRTD explained that the Unified Internal Revenue System (SURI) is temporarily unavailable while PRTD works on programming related to the distribution of economic impact payments authorized by federal COVID relief legislation.

As a result, the deadline for filing the SUT monthly return for December 2020 and making the corresponding payment is extended until Monday, January 25. Likewise, any other declarations, notifications or payments that would have been due January 19-20, 2021 are now due January 25, 2021.
