March 10, 2021 Ecuador issues immigration guidelines related to COVID-19 To enter Ecuador, travelers must take a COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours before travel and carry a certificate that confirms a negative result. There are no quarantine or vaccination requirements. The Ecuadorian Government issued immigration guidelines and internal measures related to COVID-19. Entry restrictions Under the guidelines and measures, citizens, permanent and temporary residents, work visa and business visitors may enter Ecuador without restrictions. Connecting flights through Ecuador to any destination are permitted. Admission requirements To enter Ecuador, all travelers must take a polymerase chain reaction COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours before travel. For travelers to be admitted, they must test negative and carry a certificate confirming the result. Travelers may be asked to present the certificate before boarding a plane and upon arrival in Ecuador. They also are subject to questions about their health status, prior travel history, and possible exposure to individuals who tested positive for COVID-19. Vaccination requirements There are currently no vaccination requirements. Quarantine / isolation requirements Although the guidelines and measures do not impose a mandatory quarantine period for new entrants, all travelers are strongly encouraged to isolate for 15 days upon arrival. Travelers may self-isolate in a private residence and other locations. The guidelines and measures do not require travelers to quarantine or isolate at a government-designated location. Impact on existing visas The government indicates that existing visas are not suspended or canceled. New visa applications are currently being processed. The government, however, expects there will be delays due to reductions in government personnel who process visa requests. ———————————————
