House Ways & Means approves 'Build Back Better Act' proposals

Health care, paid leave, retirement, trade and child care proposals advance, with revenue and drug pricing sections to follow

On September 9-10, the House Ways and Means Committee reported out of committee parts of its share of Democrats' $3.5 trillion reconciliation measure, the Build Back Better Act. Proposals spanned from universal paid family and medical leave; to enhanced dental, vision and hearing benefits for seniors; to retirement savings and trade programs for working Americans, and more. Highly anticipated tax and drug pricing proposals slated to pay for a large part of the spending in the larger package are expected in the next few days, but the exact timing is still up in the air. The committee plans to continue its mark up Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (Sept. 14-15).

A summary of the proposals, section-by-section and full text can be found here.
