September 16, 2021 House Energy and Commerce Committee advances Build Back Better Act proposals; drug pricing provision fails to advance The House Energy and Commerce Committee on September 15 concluded a three-day markup of its portion of the Build Back Better Act. Five subtitles devoted to health care advanced, focused on bolstering the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicaid, and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) programs; expanding vision, dental and hearing benefits in Medicare; and investing in public health infrastructure and the workforce. In addition to health care, the committee advanced energy and environmental provisions aimed at following through on the majority's commitment to combat the climate crisis and the Biden administration's goal of operating on 80% clean electricity by 2030.
