Texas clarifies that the second-quarter 2021 SUI tax payment is due by September 30, 2021

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) issued an email to remind employers that the deadline for the second-quarter 2021 state unemployment insurance (SUI) tax payment was extended to September 30, 2021. The deadline for filing the second-quarter 2021 SUI tax and wage report was not extended and remained August 2, 2021.

According to TWC Executive Director Edward Serna, it had been brought to his attention that the "Statement of Employer Account" generated by the TWC's electronic reporting system (Unemployment Tax Services (UTS)) contained incorrect language regarding the extended due date for the second-quarter 2021 SUI tax payment.

For clarification, the email states:

The second quarter tax payment is due by September 30, 2021, and interest will begin to accrue October 1, 2021, for payments not made by that date.
