IRS extends deadline to furnish Form 1095-C until March 2, 2022, in proposed regulations that would make 30-day extension permanent

The IRS has issued an advance copy of proposed regulations (REG-109128-12) that would permanently extend for 30 days the Affordable Care Act reporting deadline for applicable large employers to furnish employees with a Form 1095-C. Until the regulations are finalized, taxpayers may rely on these proposed regulations for calendar years beginning after December 31, 2020. In other words, this 30-day extension can be relied on for the 2021 tax year, so the due date for furnishing Tax Year 2021 Forms 1095-C to individuals is March 2, 2022. A Tax Alert is forthcoming.
