December 20, 2021 IRS extends certain 2021 tax filing and payment deadlines for those affected by December tornadoes in Illinois and Tennessee The IRS has announced (IR-2021-252) that taxpayers affected by the December 2021 tornadoes in parts of Illinois and Tennessee will have until May 16, 2022, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments. This relief postpones tax filing and payment deadlines beginning on December 10, 2021, and includes 2021 individual income tax returns otherwise due April 18, 2022, and various 2021 business returns normally due on March 15 and April 18, 2022. Affected taxpayers will also have until May 16, 2022 to make 2021 IRA contributions. Parallel relief has already been extended to taxpayers affected by the tornadoes in Kentucky; a complete list of eligible localities is always available on the IRS's disaster relief page. | ||||
