IRS temporarily suspends prototype IRA opinion letter program

The IRS has announced (Announcement 2022-06) the temporary suspension of its prototype individual retirement account (IRA) opinion letter program; until further notice, taxpayers who adopted prototype IRAs, simplified employee pensions (SEPs) — including salary reduction SEPs (SARSEPs), and SIMPLE IRAs (savings incentive match plan for employees of small employers) "may use existing model forms to maintain current plans and accounts or establish new plans and accounts."
