South Africa adds new occupations to its 2022 Critical Skills List

On August 2, the South African government updated its 2022 Critical Skills List (“the updated List”). The updated List contains new healthcare-related occupations and replaces all previously published versions of the List. This updated List includes 27 new occupations for medical practitioners. Individuals applying under these occupations must possess at least a bachelor’s degree and a Membership as a Fellow of Medicine in their area of specialization. They must also be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and the relevant professional board in the country where they are currently practicing medicine.
