12 January 2023 Japan announces new COVID-19-related restrictions for travelers arriving from China Mainland and Macau Effective January 12 and until further notice, individuals traveling to Japan on direct flights from China Mainland or Macau must test negative for COVID-19 prior to departure to be able to board their flights. In addition, individuals traveling directly from China Mainland or Macau, or who were present in China Mainland in the seven days prior to their travel, must get tested for COVID-19 upon arrival in Japan. Employers may inform impacted employees traveling from China Mainland and Macau of the new requirements to avoid delays or complications relating to travel to Japan.
