IRS extends tax filing/payment deadline to October 16 for disaster-area taxpayers in California, Alabama and Georgia

The IRS has announced (IR-2023-33) that taxpayers located in certain disaster areas in California, Alabama and Georgia may file various federal individual and business returns and make tax payments as late as October 16, 2023, extending a prior May 15, 2023 extended deadline for these areas. This relief is being provided to taxpayers in any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the three states. A Tax Alert is forthcoming.
