March 10, 2023 President Biden releases FY24 Budget, increasing health spending by $14.8 billion On March 9, President Biden released his $6.8 trillion fiscal year (FY) 2024 budget proposal, requesting $1.7 billion in mandatory funding and $144 billion in discretionary funding for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), an 11.5% increase from the 2023 enacted level. Like most presidential budgets, the documents are largely aspirational, and unlikely to supported by Congress, which ultimately is tasked with drafting and passing a budget for FY 2024 by the September 30th deadline.
