As the global tax landscape evolves, companies need to assess and understand the impact of tax changes on their businesses and be nimble in order to make necessary adjustments. Our Global Tax Desk professionals will provide insights on recent significant tax developments in Australia, Brazil, India, Netherlands and Russia and explain how they might affect your businesses. Topics will include:

  • Australia’s proposals dealing with alignment of debt limitation rules, denial of tax deductions for offshore intangible payments and additional tax transparency measures
  • Brazil’s proposed international tax reform and the most recent double tax treaty signed with the UK
  • India’s recent Finance Act amendments relating to applicability of withholding taxes on royalties and services, and an overview of the taxability of dividends in the hands of foreign shareholders
  • Netherlands tax updates, including a discussion of recently published favorable decrees dealing with anti-hybrid measures
  • Russia’s recent tax developments, including the proposed suspension of double tax treaties, guidelines for dividend distribution and a change of approach to “exit” taxes
