Learn about the state requirements for unemployment insurance workplace posters and separation notices in our special report

Most states require that employers tell employees about their potential eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits. There are two forms of communication that most states require — a notice to an employee at the time of an involuntary separation and/or a poster placed in a conspicuous location in the workplace.

To confirm your compliance with these requirements, download our special report for the results of our 2023 survey of state workforce agency websites, which includes links, if applicable, to the states' employee separation notices, workplace posters and the authorities governing these rules.
